Filter Using QBE Filter using the QBE (Query by Example) Line.
Use the QBE Line to further refine your query, valid syntax in the QBE Line is =, <, > and <>. You must use the keyboard <ENTER> button to execute the refinement.
When a QBE filter is executed the Results Pane shows the filtered column highlighted.
If a date filter is required in the QBE filter line then enter the date in the format ccyy-mm-dd or ccyy/mm/dd.
Once you have executed your query and reviewed the results, further amendments can be made to the query by clicking on the Design Query tab to toggle back to the design screen. The existing query output can still be accessed within the Results tab and can be updated by clicking on the execute query icon
A second example of the use of the QBE filter is shown below:
In this example a single QBE filter have been introduced: -
SDDOCO_Order_Number has been selected - All orders less than 1000
NOTE 1: The options exist under Tools / Customise menu bar to change various application colours.
Click on Tools / Customise and the Customise Preferences option box appears.
Two QBE options exist: - Change the colour of text for the QBE line; (default black) and Change the background colour of QBE line. (default Buff as shown below)
If you wish to change either option click on the 'Colour' option tab and the colour selection pallet will appear. The existing colour setting will be indicated with a square outline. Either select Cancel to exit without any updates or change the colour preference and select OK.
On selecting OK a warning dialog box will appear indicating that 'Please note that your change will take effect only after you restart this application'
A further option exists to revert all QBE and Results colour settings back to their supplied default colours. If this option is taken a warning dialog box will appear indicating that 'All your preferences will revert back to the application defaults, do you want to continue?' Select Yes to continue and see the restart required warning or select No to leave colours as current settings.
The QBE default colours are shown below
NOTE 2: The Tools / Customise menu bar shows the Preferences options available. It is also possible to change the colour of the text for the entire application! The change process is similar to that described above for changing the colour details on the QBE lines. |
