TCP/IP Connection Validation

For jdeDirect World ODBC drivers to operate successfully, you must ensure that suitable connections to your iSeries (AS/400) host have been set-up correctly and a copy of Client Access Express ODBC driver installed.  When installing jdeDirect ODBC you will be asked to enter your iSeries (AS/400) host IP address or host name.

To check your connectivity, follow these steps:

1.Obtain a command or DOS prompt

2.Within your active DOS prompt enter PING <Host IP Address>.  In the following example the command entered is ping 192.168.2.38

3.Press enter to activate your DOS command

Your PC will now receive replies back from your iSeries (AS/400), as illustrated below:

Notes:

In this example a response was received!

If the command fails to obtain a response from your iSeries (AS/400) host, the jdeDirect ODBC Driver will also fail to connect.  You may need to modify your system settings.  At this point support from your System Administrator is recommended.

For ODBC to work, the database and security servers must be operational.

Ensure that you have taken note of your AS/400 host name, as it is required during the jdeDirect Installation process.
