Prestart Jobs

Prestart Jobs

IBM ships the QSERVER subsystem pre-configured to use Prestart Jobs.  This improves performance at job initialisation/start up.  When a Prestart Job is configured within the subsystem, it MUST be active before it will connect.

The Prestart Job used for a TCP/IP connection is:   QZDASOINIT - Server program

To verify that a Prestart Job is running use the AS/400 command: WRKACTJOB SBS(QSERVER)**

jdeDirect_world_Active_jobs_Qserver

You should ensure that the following Prestart Jobs should be active:

Job                  User            Type            -----Status-----

QZDASOINIT   QUSER            PJ              ACTIVE           (socket connection)

QZDASRVSD    QUSER            PJ              ACTIVE           (socket connection)

A Prestart Job will not display within the WRKACTJOB unless a connection is already active.  Use F14, include from the WRKACTJOB panel, for Prestart Jobs to display.

** In the above example QZDASOINIT is NOT listed.  The reason is that in different releases of the operating system the jobs are configured under different subsystem!  It might even have been  switched off by your Systems Administrator.  If you have reason to believe that it is not running, then consult your Systems Administrator.
