ODBC Driver Controls - jdeDirect Control Panel - OneWorld and Enterprise One

Use this control panel program to change the behaviour of the jdeDirect ODBC driver. This program will let you change the following controls.

Security

Caching

Advanced - Logging Settings

Client Controls

jdeDirect_OW_ODBC_driver_Controls

OneWorld/EnterpriseOne Security:

Fat Client install or Thin Client install (OneWorld/E1 Only).

Configure Connection Option

Thin Client service Gateway Machine IP address (and port number) - this is the IP address (and port number) for the server running the Thin Client service. The default port number used is 20938.

       Configuration Connection

Select Configuration Connection to reconfigure your ODBC Driver connection.  The Welcome to the E1 Connection tool screen appears for you to go through the configuration process again.

V3_OW_SU_09_E1_ConfigurationTool

Go to the relevant section of this manual to follow the reinstallation process...

Caching:

Select the Caching tab:

jdeDirect_Control_Panel_Caching

Local Disk Cache Size - Controls the amount of local disk space allocated to the driver cache.

Enable Schema Cache - Defaults On.  This will cause the schema to be downloaded to the local PC or Server, making subsequent queries much faster during the initialisation phase. However, the first time that a table is accessed will be slower than normal as the cache is written to local disk.

Enable OCM Cache - Defaults Off. Object Configuration Mapping is currently inactive.  If changed it appears that the caching will be changed but in fact it is not yet active.

Clear schema Cache - This will clear the local schema cache, thus forcing a refresh back from the server.

Clear OCM Cache - This appears to be clearing the OCM Cache but is not yet active.

Advanced - Logging:

Select the Advanced tab

jdeDirect_Control_Panel_Advanced

ODBC Debug Logging - Defaults Off.  Switching this feature on will cause the driver to generate detailed level debug logs, something that may be requested by our helpdesk. Refer to the debug logging section of the technical reference to learn how to use this feature.

Logs are generated in the drivers install directory, usually:

C:\Program Files\UES Limited\ODBC Driver\jdeDirectWorld\bin\iwinnt for World and

C:\Program Files\UES Limited\ODBC Driver\jdeDirect\bin\iwinnt for EnterpriseOne/OneWorld as OACLIENT.LOG and OAODBC32.LOG

Using this feature will cause the driver to slow down considerably, please remember to switch logging OFF once you have generated the logs and sent them back to us.

Client Settings:

Select the Client tab

jdeDirect_Control_Panel_Client

Expose Table Qualifier and Owner - Default is Off.  This may be required by certain applications.

Map UNICODE to ASCII - Default is Off.  Some applications like IBM Domino will not recognise the Unicode data type and will either crash or return a error. Set this switch on when your application does not support Unicode data and is returning a error.

Expose Indexes and Keys - Default is On. When working with database tables this function displays to the User all Indexes and keys in the table.

Maximum Query Length - Modify the amount of space allocated to the internal variable when sending the SQL statement down to the underlying database.  This may need to be increased if the application you are using is generating very large SQL statements that are being truncated before arriving at the database.

Set '0' Date to '31 Dec 1899' - Default is Off. If a date field in your database is not populated correctly with a valid date; it may be 'blank' or 0.  The option is available to eliminate any problems that 'missing' dates may create by setting them to 31st December 1899.

Use Multiple Threads - Default is Off.  This feature is enabled in the release 3.0.2.0 of the driver

It is a feature added to speed up the 'fetch' processing of the driver provided your PC has sufficient processing power.  If you are working with large tables with many thousands of records then with Multiple Threads turned on the results could be returned significantly quicker.

Use Dynamic curser for Sql Server - Default is Off.  This feature is currently available.  It is available for Sql Server users who may have a problem with data retrieval and are getting 'error' messages due to the 'Forward Only Curser' default functionality hard coded into the ODBC driver.
