Gateway Service Manager
You have installed the Gateway Service and now want to use the ODBC Gateway Service Manager to either modify the first application Service or add / delete other Services.
Access the Gateway Service Manager on the Gateway PC by the following route:
START | All Programs | UES LIMITED | ODBC Gateway Service | Gateway Service Manager
The following screen will appear if one installation application is installed
Screen Details
Service Name: E811ENT_001 Unity Gateway. This is the environment selected during installation and is the first thread ( _001 )
Service Description: The description was left 'Blank' during installation and the Default has been entered - as above.
Status: Default is 'Running' on installation.
Port id: Port defined at installation.
Logging: Default logging is 'Off'.
Toolbar Options
All toolbar options are greyed out (not available for use) except the Add option on until a particular service is checked. On checking a service all toolbar options are available for that service.
Start: Not available if service already running. Available if this service is stopped.
Stop: Not available if service already stopped. Available if this service is running.
Restart: Use this option to Stop the service and automatically restart in one step. The screen may briefly show an audit screen flash up as a record is written.
Add: Use this option to Add a further (in this case second) 'Service'. See details below.
Edit: Edit the current Service. See details below.
Delete: Delete this Service.
Check the service that you wish to edit and the following 'Warning' is displayed.
Select No to return to the original status.
Select Yes to continue:to display the screen below:
Screen shows Service Name; in this case E811ENT_001 to be edited. If the Service name is NNNNNN_002, NNNNNN_003 or higher then there is more than one Gateway Service set up.
Port: Displays current Port allocated. This may be changed manually.
Logging: Logging is Off by default. It may be turned On here.
Run DBProxyConsole Application: See Below
Reconfigure Java Interoperability Connector:See Below
Run DBProxyConsole Application
Select the 'Go' to Run DBProxyConsole Application, and the following screen appears:
Select Next to continue and display the DBProxy login details screen.
Continue as required. This is an EDIT option and you are now shown the DBProxy Console Java Connector or FatClient option screen to start over!
Select the required option and continue as described in Java Connector Installation Route or FatClient Installation Route if you have a Fat Client on your PC and if you did not use this route when the service was first installed.
Reconfigure Java Interoperability Connector
Select the 'Go' to Run Reconfigure Java Interoperability Connector Application, and the following screen appears
You are Editing an existing service pointing to E811ENT and have specified the 'Reconfigure Java Interoperability Connector' option, so the route option Java or FatClient does not apply. Enter User ID, Password and Environment to continue with the Edit to continue with the Classes file copy request.
Continue with the Edit as shown under Java Connector Installation Route.
On completion of editing the Gateway Service Manager returns with the 'Done' option available to complete the update and write an audit record.
On selecting the Add option in the Gateway Services Manager, the Welcome Service configuration Tool screen is displayed.
Select Next to start the services Manager installation over again with the .INI file to use screen.
Browse to select the .ini file for the new application, and then select Next.
The copy Class files for Java Connector appears. This does NOT have the FatClient option displayed as this is the second service being configured and the first used the FatClient option.
You may only use the FatClient once.
You may set up as many services with the Java connection as required.
Continue the Add Service process as described in Java Connector Installation Route.
On completion the ODBC Gateway Service Manager will have two service options running; In this example E811ENT_001 and E811ENT_002.
The following is the ODBC Gateway Service Manager with three services running; In this example E811ENT_001, E811ENT_002 and E811ENT_003.
The audit screen log may flash on your screen after the Start, Stop, Restart, Add, Edit or Delete options have been accepted.
When the service is running an Icon appears on the PC status bar. Double click the Icon to show the audit log.
