DSN Table Names Tab
The Unity Enterprise Solutions Ltd jdeDirect E1 (and World) ODBC Driver Table/Column Names Tab displays:
The following options are available;
These options are similar for both jdeDirect World and One World installations and are discussed fully, below. (NOTE: As a tick box or radio button is changed the Sample windows at the bottom of the tab show an example of the options selected).
Table Names
The Tables Names section determines how table names are displayed when JD Edwards data is extracted using the data source.
The preconfigured DSN jdeDirect_LTN_STN_LCN_SCN data source will display the long table name first followed by the short table name, i.e. Address Book Master (F0101). Where the Short option is selected instead of the Long option, data will display with the short table name first followed by the long table name, i.e. F0101 (Address Book Master).
Depending on whether the Short or Long option has been selected, the Append Short Table Names or Append Long Table Names option will display. Activating or deactivating this option will determine whether the Short or Long table name is included as part of the Table Name. If the Append Short Table Name is disabled within the above example, the long table name will display without the short table name appendage, i.e. Address Book Master instead of Address Book Master (F0101).
Column Names
This switch applies to ALL table names and column names when LONG table and/or LONG column has been selected. When enabled, spaces, periods, slashes and brackets will be replaced with an UNDERSCORE _ this causes the table or column name to appear as a single word thus eliminating the need to surround them with quotes when used with certain applications.
Address Book Master (F0101) will appear as Address_Book_Master_F0101 and Address Book Number (ABAN8) will appear as Address_Book_Number_ABAN8 when used in the Long/Short format.
This setting has no effect when only the Short names have been selected.
Display Table and Columns Names as a Single Word
This switch applies to ALL table names and column names when LONG table and/or LONG column has been selected. When enabled, spaces, periods, slashes and brackets will be replaced with an UNDERSCORE _ this causes the table or column name to appear as a single word thus eliminating the need to surround them with quotes when used with certain applications.
Address Book Master (F0101) will appear as Address_Book_Master_F0101 and Address Book Number (ABAN8) will appear as Address_Book_Number_ABAN8 when used in the Long/Short format.
This setting has no effect when only the Short names have been selected.
Enable Data Dictionary (DD) Column Screen Names
The Enable DD Column Screen Names option is used to specify whether or not you would like the column names within your JD Edwards tables to be displayed using the titles pre-defined within your Data Dictionary. This includes standard JD Edwards delivered column names, as well as any customised column names.
Enable System Code Description Overrides
Use the Enable System Code Description Overrides option to specify whether you would like to return system codes that are established within your JD Edwards database.
System codes are used within JD Edwards as a naming convention to help identify certain data types held within individual tables. The following example has been provided to help explain the concept of JD Edwards system codes. In this example the Address Book Number column from Address Book and the Sales module, Supplier Number columns are being used to illustrate system codes in operation.
Enable User Defined Code (UDC) Descriptions
When data is extracted from JD Edwards, any UDC data will be displayed in code format, i.e. SO instead of Sales Order. jdeDirect ODBC drivers provide the option to display additional columns which will return the long description 1 and 2 associated with any UDC data.
The Enable UDC Description option allows you to specify whether or not you would like to include the virtual UDC column within your data output. There is a heavy overhead in processor power if this option is turned on, so if your query is running very slow it could be due to this flag being turned on!
